The day consisted of a scenic 400 mile ride for the entire day with great weather. Riding through Lake Placid and out of the Adirondacks, across Vermont, through the White Mountains of New Hampshire and into Maine.
Encountered during the ride:

New York gas station convenience store selling craft beer to go. Sunoco stations and according to the clerk only the A-Plus Sunoco stations.

Soon after crossing into Vermont I encountered 38 Cam-Am Spyders at a gas station pit stop on their journey to some type of Spyder rendezvous where they were anticipating 150+ Spyders. Seemed like the leader of this group had his hands full getting them all together – kind of like herding cats.
Did the ride to the top of Mt. Washington to see how it compared to the Colorado Mt. Evans and Pike’s Peak roads to the summit rides.

Mt. Washington’s summit is at over 6K feet where Pike’s Peak and Mt. Evans are both over 14K. However the ride up Mt. Washington was both scenic and challenging. The landscape along Mt. Washington is very dense and scenic in the early portions of the ride and only gets scarce towards the top.
The drop-offs along the edge of the road are minimal compared to Pike’s Peak, however a rider going of the edge of Mt. Washington is most likely not going to survive the fall but it would be easier for the tow truck to recover what is left of the bike.

Have ridden about as far east as I care to ride, going to be heading south out of Bar Harbor.
Wow – welcome to NH! You are in my state. Mt Washington area is very pretty. Glad you enjoyed this scenic beauty, John. Kudos for long distance driving! It must be hard.

So what elevation did you start at for Mt Wash? Coming from the Rocky Mountains to the east coast, we thought there was no way those mountains would compare….. They are so beautiful, however and then some!! Can’t wait to see your abc list!!!

Sorry I am just getting around to responding. Think it is about 1,000 feet so you only climb a little over 5K. The ride up Mt Washington is fairly challenging so was worth the trip. Hope things are going well for you guys!
